Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel | review

Pixi, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... Seriously I love Pixi SO much, and when I saw that they'd added to their iconic Glow Tonic range I was so excited to try the new products. I got a lovely package from them containing 5 products from the range and I started using the Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel* the very same day. Safe to say I'm hooked, so here's my early thoughts...

Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel - the basics

The cleanser contains the glycolic acid that makes the Glow Tonic range what it is, and also some other good stuff like aloe vera to soothe the skin and ginseng to improve your circulation. You get 135ml of the stuff for £18 so it's a bit pricey as cleansers go, but definitely not the most expensive cleanser I own or have tried. It comes in a pale pink plastic tube with a green lid, the ~ classic ~ Pixi colours, and you simply squeeze it out onto your palm. I find you have to be quite gentle with it, or loads comes out and you end up wasting it which is not ideal...

Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel - my experience

Just so you know, I have very sensitive skin that is incredibly prone to eczema - the steroid creams I use to keep my eczema at bay make my skin a bit greasy so it's all a bit of a mess. Dry in places, oily in others, blemishes galore. So that's where we're at with that, and I've been using the Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel for about a week now. It's safe to say I LOVE it. There's a bit of a scent, something fresh and clean but not at all overwhelming; it doesn't foam or lather (this is good, actually, because foaming cleansers can be very drying) but it makes my skin feel so clean. It almost has that squeaky-clean feeling after I use this, but without the tightness that often comes with washing your face. I'm left with a face that feels sooooo soft and nestled perfectly in between dry and oil. Followed up with a moisturiser of some description, it's perfect.

I use the Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel as a second cleanser or morning cleanse; it doesn't work for taking off make up, not without a lot of scrubbing anyway, but it's the perfect follow up after a thick cleansing balm and it's good for that 'wake me up from the depths of hell/hangovers' cleanse in the morning! My skin definitely looks more glow-y since I added this (and new the serum) into my skincare routine, but we'll see if there's any long term impact...

So, there's my thoughts on the Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel - it's well worth it IMO so definitely give it a try if you're in the market for a new cleanser.
