Five recent reads | sep 2019

Since my last recent reads post, I'm finally over the '25 books this year' mark. I'm aiming for 50 by the end of 2019, so fingers crossed I can step my game up over the final few months of the year! Here's what I've been reading recently...

The Female Persuasion* by Meg Wolitzer was fantastic. If you're remotely interested in feminism or self-growth then it's such a good read. It's a story rather than a non-fiction book but it's so informative, and the plot is fantastic too. Highly recommend! BUY IT NOW

Next up I read Trust Your Eyes by Linwood Barclay which I got for 10p at a charity book sale in the local shopping centre. I'm SO glad I was there that day and picked this up, because I love him as an author and this book was no exception. I think it's his best book, and I don't say that lightly! BUY IT NOW

My mum read I Looked Away by Jane Corry and then she gave it to me - and it's SO good. It's about a woman who experiences a bit of a tragedy, and also about a homeless woman who lives nearby, and how their lives intertwine. It's a fantastic story and I loved it! BUY IT NOW

I knew I had another Jane Corry book on my shelf and I was dying to read more of her writing, so I reached for The Dead Ex as my next read. It was equally good with so many twists and turns - it's about a woman who has epilepsy and her ex husband has gone missing, and she can't quite remember if she had anything to do with it or not. It's so bloody good. BUY IT NOW

Last but not least I read Saving Sophie by Sam Carrington - not my favourite book in the world, but an easy read with an interesting storyline about a girl who comes home from a night out and can't remember a thing. The ending was a bit rushed, I think. I've read so many psychological thrillers and I can't say I'll be dying to get my hands on any more of Sam's books but I enjoyed this nonetheless! BUY IT NOW

I'm off to Spain at the end of the month and I plan on reading a lot while I'm there - so keep your eyes peeled for another recent reads post when I'm back.
