AD | 7 films to pick from for the perfect Autumn date night-in...

As it becomes harder to cling onto the dregs of summer, let's just admit defeat and light our scented candles, put our slippers on and snuggle down for a film night. When the team over at We Love Dates challenged me to write a post about autumn date ideas I knew it had to be a movie night: you're already paying for Netflix, or using your ex's subscription still, so grab a bottle of wine and a bag of chocolate buttons from they shop and you're good to go...

The Boy

If you're into horror films, this is a good one - it's genuinely scary, and tells the story of a nanny hired to look after a young boy. Only the boy is actually a doll, and it's so intensely creepy. Definitely one to watch with your significant other so you can bury your head in their shoulder when it all gets a bit too much!

Atomic Blonde

If you're looking for a film with a strong female lead that will have you on the edge of your seat, watch this. It helps that Charlize Theron is amazing, but this is a genuinely good film about a spy who heads to Berlin as the wall is about to fall - so if you like history, this is a good one for you too.

Hampstead

Looking for something beautifully British and lovely? This is the one. Featuring Brendan Gleeson and Diane Keaton, it's an uplifting story about a woman who lives in a fancy apartment and a man who lives off the land, just minutes away from each other, and how their lives intertwine. Just gorgeous and I would so recommend watching this with your partner and a packet of biscuits. And some tissues!

The Taking of Pelham 123

I loved this when I first watched it, and still do - with big names like John Travolta and Denzel Washington, the film follows the hijacking of a subway train in NYC. It's so intense but such a good film - get yourself on a free dating site to find the perfect person to cosy up with this autumn to watch this one...

American Psycho

Will I ever not recommend this?! It's genuinely one of the best films in the world, and I'm so glad it's on Netflix. Follow a craaaazzzzy business man as he turns to murder - featuring Christian Bale, Jared Leto and more.

Flushed Away

Looking for something easy to watch but equally hysterical? This is perfect for that, and for a totally chilled autumn movie night. It's about a pet rat called Roddy who accidentally ends up in the sewer and tries to make his way home...

Baywatch

The new one, with Zac Efron and the Rock in it. It's just so outrageously funny - and it might warm you up a bit on those chilly autumn nights! Genuinely though, if you want a good laugh then absolutely stick this on.
