My goals for the rest of the year

So we're over halfway through the year, which is bonkers. It's been a good year for me - I've been on three trips away, finally found my feet in the freelance world and had some blogging success too. So what are my goals for the rest of the year? If you're interested, I've jotted them down below...

Hit my social media targets

Social media comes hand in hand with blogging these days. Brands want to know all of your stats, and of course your social channels are the perfect place to promote your blog. I want to hit 10,000 twitter followers (you can follow me HERE) and 3,000 instagram followers (you can follow me HERE) before the end of the year. I'm not too far off either of them, and my instagram has had a bit of growth recently which I'm really happy with. So fingers crossed, I can do it!

I don't really focus on facebook or pinterest too much - but if you want to follow me there too then please do. Every little helps...

Carry on blogging

I have, for the most part, been really consistent with my blog this year. I've secured my first press trip, worked on some exciting collaborations. I absolutely love this little blog, and I might miss a few posts here and there due to being really busy but it's still my baby.

I'd like to get another press trip booked in, secure some more paid brand work and maybe speak on another panel. They're big goals, sure, but what's the point in aiming low?

Grow the North West Blog Gang community

You might not know, but I run a facebook group called North West Blog Gang. There's over 100 of us in there and we promote our blog posts, give each other advice, and share any opportunities we've found that might be relevant. It's also where I share invitations for any menu tasting events or brand meet ups I've organised, so if you're a blogger in the North West head over & join us!

We've had a few events so far: The Body Shop, Siren, Around The World and more. But of course, a big goal of mine is to organise a few more for the rest of the year.

Build my freelance career even further

You probably know, but I'm a freelance content writer, proofreader and social media manager. I currently have two big clients, where the majority of my work comes from, and then a few other ad hoc clients. I'd like to get a few more steady clients, and basically just keep hold of what I've got now.

I also want to establish a better routine - maybe find a co-working space, or at least set aside a full day each week to leave my house and just work solidly in a local cafe or something. I love working from home but when you have parcels arriving, a dog barking and access to Netflix it can be hard to get stuff done...

Hit my reading target

At the start of the year I set myself a target to read 50 books - you can keep up with that here if you want to. I've read 21 so far, which means I'm a little bit behind schedule. However, I've got two 3 hour train journeys coming up as well as two more holidays booked which means plenty of reading time! I always share my recent reads on here too, if you're looking for quick fire book reviews.

Get on top of my health

Recently I've been sleeping badly and being a bit lazy. I want to walk more, eat better and just try to feel a bit better in general for the rest of the year. I've already increased my water intake and started walking a little bit more so fingers crossed this is fairly achievable!

So, there's my goals for the rest of the year. What are your's?

  2. Such a great list! I definitely agree with the last point. I've been eating so unhealthy lately and have been glued to my laptop!

  4. I want to hit some new social goals too but I'm trying not to care about insta as it's impossible to grow on there these days. I've seen a rise the past few days but trying not to get my hopes up too much!

  7. My Instagram growth is shocking so I've took a step back from the platform and concentrating on improving my engagement on Pinterest as it's where most of my traffic comes from. x

  8. I would love to try and blog more this year. It seems as the year has gone by the posts that I write reduce. I think it's due to me being so busy with the kids. I've learnt to never stick to a schedule and post when I want now. The pressure is too much x
