The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer | review (dry skin)

As beauty brands go, The Ordinary have fast become one of the most coveted - offering good quality skincare that actually works, at a price that really doesn't break the bank? No longer a dream but a reality, meaning that whatever your budget is you can really look after your skin. Some of the names and ingredients are a bit complex and make no sense to us average human beings, but doing a little bit of research and reading/watching some reviews will really help you narrow down which of their products will work for you - which brings me on to this review, of their High-Spreadability Fluid Primer...

The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer - the basics

I ordered this from the Deciem website, where it retails for £5.50 - shipping is £4.99 which is a wee bit pricey, or it's free if you spend over £25 which I did because I wanted to repurchase my foundation and my favourite EVER primer, from one of Deciem's other brand, and also order the new Squalene Cleanser from The Ordinary which I'll likely be reviewing soon. Anyway, you can also find The Ordinary at ASOS, Beauty Bay and in store at House of Fraser if you don't want to order directly from the Deciem website.

For your £5.50 you get 30ml of the High-Spreadability Fluid Primer in a glass bottle with a pipette; the primer itself is free of water, alcohol, gluten, nuts and oil, and is also completely vegan and cruelty-free.

The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer - my experience

This primer is honestly the strangest thing - you only need a tiny bit as a little goes a long way, and as you start to rub it in the liquid turns to what can only be described as the most plush velvet layer on your skin. If you're one of those people who is scared of the texture of velvet, like a girl I used to do gymnastics with, then this most likely isn't for you.

The first time I used it, when my eczema was causing a lot of texture on my skin, I didn't like the primer at all. I found that my make up looked a bit shit after a couple of hours behind the bar and everything was just a bit of a mess. So I abandoned it for a while, but when my skin was looking and feeling a lot better I decided to give it another try; and I love it! Foundation blends and sits really nicely on top of it, and I find my make up still looks nice much later on. Like I said above, you only need a tiny bit so I can see this lasting AGES which for £5.50 is a bit of alright. It's not broken me out in spots or a rash, and all in all it's just a boss bargain primer

Have you tried this - if not, what's your favourite product from The Ordinary?

  1. Ooo this sounds amazing! I love that it gives a velvet finish and that it lasts ages but is so cheap!
