Lublin 2018 - the plans

On February 1st I'll finaaaaallly be getting out of this country for a week - I'm heading back to Poland, my favourite country in the world, to explore a city I've not yet been to: Lublin, in the South East. I feel like I've not been on holiday for ages so as you can imagine, I'm so excited to get there and explore. Here's the vague plan - the things I wanna see, the places I wanna go, you know the score...

There's an open air village museum which is full of traditional aspects of Lublin, old-world style, and it looks so cute. It's set to be fairly cold when we're there, but I really want to go here because it just looks adorable (typically, I'm thinking of the Instagram content...) plus it will be nice to learn a little bit about the history of the city in a more homely aspect. It has goats and other farm animals, a big lake and loads more. Soooo excited.

Like a lot of other Polish cities, Lublin has a WW2 concentration camp/museum that you can visit; Auschwitz was harrowing when I went, but incredibly interesting and I do think it's something everyone should do if they can. It was one of the most heartbreaking experiences I've ever had, and yet I went back - and I want to see Majdanek, too, to see how it compares and to learn more and to pay my respects.

There are plenty more museums, some galleries and a gorgeous castle as well as a typically-Polish old town with colourful houses and cute cafes (again, thinking about how good my Instagram feed will look by the end of the week...) and Neo-gothic architecture. Such a pretty city.

Also in the works is a day trip to Warsaw, which is around 3 hours away by coach, to go to the neon museum and see everything the city has to offer in a short space of 13 hours - frankly very excited for that day of the week!

I also plan to eat my bodyweight in pizza monster munch and bake rolls, drink whatever cider or cocktails Lublin has to offer, and generally have an all-round baaaallll. See you on the other side for weeks and weeks of blog content... seriously though, if there is anything you want me to write about specifically when we get back, let me know and I'll do my best.
