My top 7 ways to procrastinate

You may know I just handed in my dissertation - 28,000 words of research and analysis - and it's safe to say that over the past few weeks I've become an expert in one thing: procrastination. Really it's a good thing because too much constant work isn't good for you, and we all need micro-breaks so without further ado here's my top 7 ways to procrastinate...

1. FOOD // making and eating food is an essential part of life, and doing so while you're meant to be doing something else can easily be excused with "but I'm huuuunnnngggrrryyyyy".

2. ARTS AND CRAFTS // I had a wedding coming up, and took some time out from editing my dissertation to make a card for the lovely couple - a) the card looked amazing and b) it was a nice distraction, although it took me a lot longer than anticipated because it was so bloody fiddly.

3. WALKING THE DOG // Obviously dogs need walking and exercising, and so do humans - it's not good to spend too much time indoors if you can avoid it, so getting out and about, drinking in the fresh air and stretching your legs is undoubtedly a good way to procrastinate.

4. DOCUMENTARIES // If like me the thing you're procrastinating is part of your education, watch a documentary pertaining to the same thing. I can't count the number of times I've watched documentaries (or even films) about trans people or about literature/reading - it makes you feel like you're doing work when really, you're all snug in bed with snacks and your girlfriend.

5. HOLIDAYS // Whether that's actually, you know, going on holiday a month before your deadline (me and Sam went to Disneyland a month prior to my dissertation hand in) or scouring Skyscanner and Air B n B day in day out dreaming of new destinations, holidays are definitely an exciting way to procrastinate!

6. EVENT PLANNING // Y'all probably know about #CarnLIVal, our seasonal Liverpool blogging event, and if you don't you can read all about it here. But sending emails, looking for venues and texting the group chat asking if they've got any bright ideas was something I did a lot of while supposedly writing my dissertation.

7. WRITING A BLOG POST ABOUT PROCRASTINATING // I actually started this blog post while still in the throes of my dissertation; it's all submitted now, thank god, and the thing I'm currently procrastinating is the aforementioned #CarnLIVal. So here I am, finishing this blog post.

So there you have it - all the ways in which I can procrastinate. What about you?

  2. These are some great tips for procrastinating. Walking the dog and making food along with ''just another episode of teen wolf'' are literally the things I spend my time doing. I have a deadline due tomorrow and I'm just commenting on blogs and then going to work in 30 mins.
