Things to do more of in 2017

I'm not really one for resolutions - I can't stick to them, and ultimately the whole 'new year new me' thing seems a bit pointless to me. If you are a new years resolution person then cool, you go, but they're not for me personally. Instead, here's a little list of things I want to do more this year.

Compliment people // I'm a sucker for compliments and I love dishing them out, so my aim during 2017 is to do it more - whether that be complimenting someone's photography, their hair, a piece of work they've done or how lovely their voice is. Whether they're a loved one or a stranger, little compliments can really make peoples' day.

Support people's projects // It's so amazing, seeing what my friends are doing and creating - this year I want to do more to support them. Whether that's buying from indie stores like That Lame Co or simply sharing and retweeting people's' blog posts, articles, photographs, promotions etc - it's an easy thing to do and can make all the different to someone!

Reading // Oh boy. I love reading but with my masters, blog, youtube and life - it seems to have fallen on the back burner lately which is such a shame. I'm desperate to get back into it and I've got a stash of books ready to read (I hauled them on youtube if you want to see). Something about getting lost in a book, you know?

Good deeds // These don't have to be massive but things like giving someone my seat on the train, donating unused products to shelters, helping someone who needs it. It's just nice to be nice.

Hotel jaunts // This one might not be quite so easy because it depends on our money situation but I want to stay in more hotels this year - there's something about sleeping in a big comfy bed that's not your own, in a city that isn't quite your home, and being away from reality even just for one night. Yes please, 2017.

What do you want to do more of this year?

  1. I'm with you on reading and doing good deeds this year! I've already signed up for blood doning (which I am now terrified about) and I've also volunteered to befriend an elderly person in need. I always feel so guilty when I'm sat at home scrolling through Netflix, trying to find something to watch, when I could be out helping people. Good luck with your goals lovely. x

  2. This is such a great idea! I definitely want to compliment people more as well, I love seeing the smile people get when you do. Reading is on my list too, I'm going to try and read one chapter a day and see how I go. Great post!
