January 2020: the round up

Kicking off a new year and a new decade, I want to challenge myself to do a little round up at the end of every month throughout 2020. Mostly they'll just be a look at what I've achieved that month, cool things that have happened, places I've been to or blog posts I'm proud of. So here's the first of (hopefully) 12 monthly round up posts...

I started off the year really poorly - I'm still undergoing checks for possible endometriosis, which they now think could be Crohn's but nobody's really sure. All I know is for the first week of 2020 I spent my days clinging to a rechargeable hot water bottle (genius by the way) and crying. I'm doing a bit better now, and things seem to be moving forward which is good!

In terms of my blog, I didn't post as much as I wanted to because of being ill/working/holiday prep. But I got some posts up, and finished off my Sczcecin content for the most part. I'm determined to get  into a good swing in terms of blogging, so watch this space...

I got my nails done by Alex Louise and they were soooo funky - definitely a highlight of January for me. If and when I get gels again, I definitely won't be getting a plain colour that's for sure!

The best part of January was my week-long trip to Prague and Vienna. You'll see plenty of posts about it, but we had an absolute ball and I bloody enjoyed it. Prague is just amazing, and while Vienna isn't really my cup of tea it was still fun to experience something new!

I've read four books so far this year; I'm aiming for 50 this year, so fingers crossed. I'll be reviewing them on here soon, so keep your eyes peeled. I've also been watching Scorpion on Netflix which is amazing - a team of geniuses are working with the government to solve crimes and there's all sorts of drama but also every episode is really emotional. Love it. I've been watching the Sidemen on YouTube as well as Demi Donnelly, Brogan Tate, Yolanda (How To Cake It) and Georgia Marie. I also went to the cinema this month to see Playing With Fire, a lovely family-friendly comedy about firemen. Last but not least I actually went to the theatre this month to see Curtains which was so so so funny.

Work has been hectic - being self employed makes going away tricky. A week of not working means a week of not earning any money, so I had to cram that week's work into the space before and after we went. I managed it but I've been glued to my laptop, pretty much! I've organised two menu tasting events for North West Blog Gang this month, at Yard & Coop and Casa Italia, both of which were a great success. Hopefully there'll be loads more in the pipeline, too.

I can't think of anything else to tell you from January 2020. It's been a long but fairly good month, and I'm looking forward to February...

  2. I'm sorry to hear that you've been poorly, although the rechargeable hot water bottle sounds like a genius idea! That's a great reading target, which has been your favourite book so far this year?
