The Body Shop: current campaigns

As part of the North West Blog Gang that I run on Facebook, I organise events for bloggers - our latest was at The Body Shop in Liverpool 1 and we were lucky enough to hear about two of their current campaigns surrounding period poverty and sustainability. I thought I'd give you a bit of information about them, in case you're interested...

The Body Shop are currently running a period poverty/menstrual equity campaign which supports the charity Bloody Good Period; they provide long term menstrual education to those who are less likely to be able to access it, and they also provide physical period protection like pads and tampons to those who need them. Period poverty is a very real issue and something that can so easily be eradicated if we make the effort to support those in need and also campaign for the affordability and accessibility of these essential products. If you've been reading the blog for a long time you'll know this is something I'm really passionate about, and that I have organised similar collections myself in the past - so it's really cool that The Body Shop have partnered with such a brilliant charity. There are collection points in-store, so for a couple of quid you can help people live a better life despite their period!

Another campaign The Body Shop have going on right now is their 'Return, Recycle, Repeat' system: bring back 5 empty bottles of The Body Shop product and get £5 on your Love Your Body club membership card! You can also bring back bottles from other brands, but you *won't* get any reward money for this. Still, it's a good idea because all of these bottles and tubs as well as their lids and pumps (which often cannot be recycled!) are sent to TerraCycle. They're a company who specialising in recycling and upcycling hard-to-recycle waste. Sustainability is such an important topic and something to really think about, and The Body Shop are making waves here. Plus you get money off your next purchase, which is pretty cool.

I absolutely love The Body Shop as a brand; their products have always been amazing on my eczema-prone skin, and I love their ethos. A lot of their products are vegan - in fact, the brand sell a a vegan product every 3 minutes - and everything is cruelty-free too. They've been a staple brand in my skincare collection since I was a kid, and I don't see that changing any time soon especially when they keep knocking it out of the park with new releases and new campaigns like the two above!

Thanks to The Body Shop for having us, and for spoiling me with a facial AND a hand/arm massage - I went away feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, and I was absolutely glowing...

  1. What an amazing and important set of campaigns. It always bugs me that so little of my beauty empties are recyclable so I'll have to drop them in! xx

  7. I've started using reusable period products so I have a lot of pads and tampons I don't need. I don't think they take ones that are not in boxes though, do they? I need to find somewhere to donate them.
