Favourite music of 2018 so far...

So we're like halfway through the year now - where did that go?! There's already been some huge music releases so far this year, and I thought I'd take the time to round up my favourites. This is obviously just my personal favourites, and I would absolutely love to know yours so feel free to leave a comment and let me know what new stuff you're loving this year.

Catie Rae by This Wild Life // I absolutely adore TWL, and I'm so excited for the new album which comes out *this month* - Catie Rae is the latest single from the upcoming album, and it's only a short little song but it packs a punch and it's bloody gorgeous. The ukulele in it is spectacular, the lyrics are beautiful and the video is adorable.

Solastalgia by Missy Higgins // I've mentioned this album already, and the more I listen to it the more difficult it is to pick a song that I can call my favourite because they're all gorgeous. Everything about it is wonderful but lyrically, I think it's her best album yet. And I don't say that lightly.

Something Else by The Brian Jonestown Massacre // It's only recently that I got into these guys but of course, I am now completely obsessed. Their new album, released last week, is incredible. Described as 'a retracing back to the traditional sound of the band', it's pretty magical to listen to. Gotta love that tambourine... Also I have ordered this on vinyl, because it was the last one in stock and it was 2am, and it doesn't matter that I don't own a record player. Obviously.

Blackout by Frank Turner // I'm not, particularly, a huge Frank Turner fan but I love this song, off his latest album 'Be More Kind' - this track was put out as a single in March and has been on my playlist for ages. It's such a bop.

Tell Me How You Really Feel by Courtney Barnett // Love love love this whole album; Courtney has such a unique style of voice and lyrics and sound, and this album doesn't disappoint. My favourite song is Nameless, Faceless which was released as a single earlier this year and is generally wonderful.

Today It Rains by Esme Bridie // I won't waffle on too much about this album, because you can read my review of it here, but it's very beautiful and I urge you to listen to it, especially in the lovely warm weather.

Sinner by Deaf Havana // Okay this only dropped less than 12 hours ago but it is such a bop that I couldn't not include it on the list - I'm so excited for Rituals, the new album, but sadly that's 2 months away so I'll just have this on repeat til then. I think they've released it at the perfect time, too, because it gives off such summer vibes and it's something quite different to a lot of their other stuff.
