New Found Glory: 20 years of pop punk

It's been a while since I was able to crack out a blog post due to my dissertation deadline and subsequent holiday to Prague, but both have been and gone (dissertation successfully submitted, and Prague enjoyed to the fullest) so my blog can have a little bit more attention. I'm working a lot over the next few weeks but I hope to fit in some posts about Prague, and I have some beauty posts coming up too. Anyway, it's about time I finally wrote something about New Found Glory's 20 years of pop punk tour - so here goes.

We went to the Manchester date on September 29th and it was a mad rush to get there, but we still caught a bit of the support act, ROAM. They were nothing special, your typical pop punk band, but a nice way to ease us into the gig. It wasn't massively busy, but it filled up in between ROAM finishing and New Found Glory coming on.

And when they came on, it was electric. I have never ever seen a band with so much energy and passion; they played two full albums, Sticks and Stones and Catalyst, which happen to be two of my ultimate favourite albums (by them and just in general). We definitely got lucky with which date we attended! They are such a talented group of guys, and they still have so much chemistry on stage together 20 years later. The love they have for their fans is so easy to see, and every song meant something to somebody in the crowd.

For me, my highlights were Head On Collision (the song that All Time Low got their name from, and an all-round bop), The Great Houdini, which is one of those songs that just feels so full of drama and life that it's such a joy to listen to, and All Downhill From Here which I just love. They also did a song from their new album, which was really exciting, and finished with My Friends Over You which couldn't have been a better choice.

All in all their entire set was phenomenal; their enthusiasm and love, energy and charm, talent and sheer happiness - it was all so clear to see and that made it even better. See ya next time, boys.
