Our Chester day out

You may have seen, we recently went on a day trip to Manchester - I really enjoyed putting that blog post together and so I've decided to recreate it for our little day out to Chester on a rare sunny day off. Just me and Sam this time, but we had such a lovely day.

After a hefty journey involving trains and rail replacement buses followed by a taxi, we arrived at Missoula opposite Chester cathedral for food and drinks. I had a BBQ chicken and cheese wrap with mashed potato (weird I know but I was fully craving mash) and Sam went for pizza. They also have Rekorderlig cider ON DRAFT. Spectacular all round.

We had a mooch in a few shops, mainly the Disney store, then headed down to the river for ice cream (toffee fudge for me and pistachio for Sam, if you're interested). We saw some ducks and looked at the posh cars and decided which fancy house we'd most like to live in. We went to the ampitheatre, the Roman gardens and then it rained a bit.

Never fear, though, because we had an escape room (two, actually) booked - we did Identify and Disturbed at Breakout Chester and naturally smashed them both. Identify is set in a murderer's apartment and has such cool props and an interesting storyline, whereas Disturbed is all dark and bloody with chains and body parts. Identify is a 4 star and Disturbed is a 5 star, but we actually found Disturbed easier as it's more sequential, and we got our with time to spare after only two clues, making us the second best at that particular game. *bows* If you're in Chester there are plenty of fab escape rooms to do, especially at Breakout!

In between games we had a drink at the Slug & Lettuce, and when the night was over we headed home for a Lush bath and documentaries in bed. Chester is such a gorgeous city, and I miss it now that I don't live there - it's definitely worth the journey.
