Degustabox // September 2016

Degustabox Day is one of my favourite days of each month, and this month was no exception - in fact, I think this month's box is my favourite so far. Sadly there was no alcohol, but all was forgiven when I saw what actually was inside!

First up, Mrs Crimble's Gluten Free Pasta with sauce - I tried out the fusilli with a gourmet mushroom and cream sauce, and honestly it was delicious. You can make it with water, or water AND milk, so I opted for the latter to make it as creamy as possible. I wasn't expecting to like this quite as much as I did, and it was really easy to make. Definitely the sort of thing I'd have loved while living at uni! There was also some chia seeds from Chia Bia, which I can't see myself getting much use out of; my friend is a massive smoothie lover though, so I may pass them onto her as I've heard they're fab for adding extra nutrition to a smoothie!

Next - my chocolate fix, in the form of Metcalfe's Popcorn Thins; I've had Metcalfe's skinny popcorn before and loved it, so I had high hopes for these and they didn't let me down. Plain popcorn in a big round shape, with milk chocolate on one side. Perfect for lunch boxes or morning snacks when you're craving something sweet! There's also a Get Fruity Marvellous Mango bar, which I'm yet to try but sounds frankly quite nice and definitely quite healthy - again, perfect if you want something sweet or you've got kids' packed lunches to make, which I haven't.

Another two snacks come in the shape of Emily Fruit Crisps (banana) and the Say Yes to No bread chips in sour cream & onion; I've not braved either of these, but my mum is eager to try the banana crisps and I'm sure my dad will scoff down the bread chip things, whatever they are; again, healthy and possibly delicious alternatives to the usual bags of Wotsits we have floating around.

There were four pots of Harley's jelly and there's not much to say about these, other than they're jelly and they're delicious. I think the theme of this month's box is "perfect for your seven year old's lunch box but also enjoyable for adults". Something I can't see anybody enjoying, though, is the Cirio Steam Express Borlotti Beans, which smell like dog food and probably taste like it too.

I love that you get drinks in Degustabox each month, and this time around they were better than ever; two cans of CAPE ice teas and a big bottle of Teisseire raspberry & cranberry cordial. I was dying for a cold drink last night and so I took one of the cans of CAPE, the pineapple & passion fruit offering, out of the fridge - I was about 3/4 of the way through, writing this post, when I realised it was tea. Iced tea. I literally hadn't noticed, so make of that what you will, but I hate all forms of tea and I really enjoyed this. I'm excited to try the cordial, too, because raspberry and cranberry is my favourite flavour combo, and it smells nice & strong like Robinson's double strength.

If you want £7 off Degustabox, use the code BLDEG15 - not #spon or affiliate, just a gift from me to you. Enjoy!
