Bback to Bblonde with Jerome Russell

When I started my blog, and until recently, I had white-blonde hair. I'm a VIB, which means I'm an ambassador for Pro:Voke - but that's a story (and a brand) for another day. I dyed my hair very dark blonde/verging on brunette just before Christmas, and while I've enjoyed the change I feel like being a bottle-blonde is my true calling. When the girls at Jerome Russell got in touch and offered to send me something, I thought it was sign that I'd been darker haired for too long!

They sent me two boxes of their Maximum Lift Blonding Kit* and at nine o'clock on a Monday night, Sam dyed my hair for me. You get a little rectangular bowl (?) to mix the liquid and powder together, and away you go. The powder is blue-ish, and the liquid/cream is white, and mixed together they're a gorgeous baby blue-y purple shade. You can see that on your hair, too, and all my house mates asked if I was dyeing my hair blue.

We did my roots first with the handy little brush, then did the lengths, and then I popped on the giant plastic hat thing which was uncomfortable to say the least... It was quite hard to tell which bits of hair actually had dye on them, which was confusing and left me constantly checking in the mirror! After about an hour I washed it off and gave it a scrub with the conditioning shampoo sachet, and let it air dry for a while.

Now, I'll admit - there wasn't enough dye for my hair. Had there been three boxes, I think the entire thing would have gone a lot more smoothly. My roots were the exact shade I wanted them to be (white) then there was a yellow strip, and then my lengths (which is where we had to spread the dye very sparingly) were only a little bit lighter than they were to begin with...

My hair wasn't damaged at all, and like I said if there'd been enough dye I think it would have been great. A bit of purple shampoo would have sorted out the brassiness and it would have been brilliant. As it is, I'll need another box dye or two to get it to my preferred shade as it's a bit yellow on the top, and a bit too dark at the bottom...

(with flash)

Have you ever tried hair dye from Jerome Russell?
