For my 2023 reading list I wanted to add in 12 books which were all specifically recommended by other people - friends, family, other book bloggers and so on. In this post, which I aim to update monthly, I'll be sharing all 12 of these books and adding in my thoughts and reviews as I tick them all off. Thanks to everyone who recommended me a book!
January
Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert, recommended by Aoife. I've finished reading this and I'm genuinely not sure whether I liked it or not. I was really thrown by the fact that it's written by a British author and set in the UK but uses a lot of American terminology - once I got past that, it was a decent story with some interesting (if not massively likeable) characters. I'm definitely not in any rush to buy the rest of the Brown sister trilogy, put it that way. Meh, 3 stars for me. Sorry Aoife please don't hate me...
Februrary
Almond by Sohn Won-Pyung, recommended by Rachael.
March
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, recommended by Katie.
April
War for the Oaks by Emma Bull, recommended by Fiona.
May
House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland, recommended by AJ.
June
Wonderland Avenue: Tales of Glamour and Excess by Danny Sugerman, recommended by my girlfriend.
July
Belladonna by Adalyn Grace, recommended by Roxie.
August
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin, recommended by Ellen.
October
The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson-Walker, recommended by Jenny.
November
A Spell of Winter by Helen Dunmore, recommended by Caroline.
December
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson, recommended by Amber.
If you've read any of these books, let me know what you thought of them! And thanks to everyone who came through with a book recommendation - here's to another great year of reading...
