YSL Beauty | my first impressions

As a blogger I'm lucky enough to work with some great brands, in the beauty sector and otherwise. Sometimes, it's a real pinch-me moment... like when YSL Beauty got in touch to see if I wanted to try out some of their bestsellers. Obviously I did, and I'm here today to share my first impressions!

Products were sent to me as PR samples.

YSL Touche Éclat Illuminating Pen

I've actually used this in the past, but I love it - a glowy concealer-type product, I use this under my eyes to brighten things up a bit. It has a brush applicator and it's not particularly thick coverage so I wouldn't recommend it for use as a proper concealer, but it's one of those lovely boujiiieee products that make a really nice gift. YSL Touche Éclat is certainly one of their most well-known and best-loved products.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Slim Lipstick

This is an iconic YSL lip product, and I have it in the shade Rouge Paradoxe which is a classic red. I usually avoid a red lip, so I wasn't sure I'd get any use out of this - but I wore it for the Euros final and loved it. Okay so we didn't win but my lips looked amazing, so? It's a powder matte finish and super long lasting; I'm not a huge fan of the triangular shaped bullet as I found it quite hard to apply, but it's something I could definitely look past for such a gorgeous product.

Wearing the YSL lipstick!

YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer

I was excited to try this out - it has gold flecks in it and a silicone texture, and of course it's part of the famous Touche Éclat range. I have quite dry skin, and I didn't get on with this as well as I'd hoped. It made my foundation look dry and cakey on top, which was so disappointing. It felt amazing on the skin, though, and I think if you have a less dry complexion you'll probably get on really well with the Touche Éclat Blur Primer!

YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint Foundation SPF22

Fancy packaging, a huge shade range AND added SPF? This is a fantastic medium-to-high coverage foundation that lasts well on the skin and covers really nicely. It's not too glowy and not too matte, and just has a gorgeous finish. I have the shade BR20 which is slightly too dark for me but nothing that can't be fixed with a bit of clever blending. I am a huge fan of this so far!

YSL Libre Eau de Parfum

This isn't a YSL scent I'd ever actually smelled before but my god, it is beautiful. This has fast become my favourite perfume - the tiniest bit lasts all day on the skin, and the bottle is the most glamorous thing I've ever seen in my life. YSL's Libre perfume is soooo lush and worth every penny!

YSL Black Opium Eau de Parfum

Black Opium is an absolute classic - a really grown up, almost heavy (but not quite) scent. I love this and there isn't much else to say; if you haven't sniffed it yet, get your nose to a beauty counter ASAP. It's just seriously soooooo nice.

YSL Pure Shots Night Reboot Serum

Okay this is a £79 serum (!!) and that is insane *but* sometimes, skincare is worth splashing out on. I've tried it a few times and it definitely left me glowy in the morning, but I haven't tried it long enough to tell you if it has really improved my skin over time. It smells nice and the packaging is soooo boujee but yeah, is it worth £79? Time will tell...

So there's my first impressions of a bunch of gorgeous YSL Beauty products. Have you tried any of them, or anything else from the brand? Let me know!! Shop exclusive YSL Beauty offers HERE.
