(AD) Small acts of kindness with Moonpig

During these trying times, while we're all stuck inside and everything seems a bit miserable, it's important to look after yourself. It's also important, where you can, to look after your loved ones. Today I'm working with Moonpig to share some small acts of kindness you can do to put a smile on someone's face...

Bake for those near to you

I've been baking during lockdown (see my fantastic lemon drizzle cake...) and dropping it off to friends & family nearby on my daily walk. You can do this safely by putting it on the doorstep and stepping back before they answer the door, so you can say hello in a socially distanced way. Who doesn't like baked goods?! Such a lovely and relatively cheap way to put a smile on someone's face.

"I saw this and thought of you..."

Whether it's a meme, an article or just a cute picture of a quokka eating a leaf, tagging your friend or your colleague or your cousin in something that has reminded you of them is SO nice. It takes seconds, is completely free and is just a lovely way of letting someone know that you've been thinking of them. Maintaining social connections can be difficult during lockdown, but it can be done!

Sending flowers to your loved ones

This is where Moonpig and their Let Happiness Bloom campaign come in - sending flowers is just such a beautiful thing to do isn't it? I recently sent some to my aunty & uncle, and to some family friends. Flowers are a way of letting nature into the house when we can't really go outside, a way of brightening up a sad day, a way of reminding people that you love them. Moonpig have a great selection of flowers and of course you can send cards too with a lovely personalised note! If you download the Moonpig app and order your flowers from there using the code APP25BLOOM you'll get 25% off until the 25th May, too.

Hosting a virtual quiz

It takes planning and effort to host a virtual quiz, and people really appreciate it. Again it's free - use Zoom, Facebook video call, Skype or whatever suits you best. We've had loads of virtual quizzes so far, and everyone loves it. It's a way of getting together safely and having some fun. I have two different friends who are both just amazing at hosting quizzes, and I know they've really brought joy to a lot of people while we're stuck at home. Legends.

What are some other acts of kindness that we can do during lockdown? With all the uncertainty, scary news stories, differing opinions... well, it's cool to be kind. Always.

  1. We've had a ton of virtual quizzes too, it's been a really nice way to catch up with family and friends and make sure everyone's doing the best they can under the circumstances! In fact, I think I've actually talked to people I wouldn't normally do, which is ironic haha! Those flowers are gorgeous and would be such a lovely way to brighten someone's day!
