EcoDenta extra black whitening toothpaste // review

A toothpaste review? How boring, you may think - but this is a BLACK TOOTHPASTE and I think that's a bit more exciting. I picked this up for a few euros in Latvia and I've been using it the past few weeks - so how am I getting on?

It is pure black when you squeeze it out, and tastes like any other toothpaste - but it's not got that overpowering mint flavour, which is good for me as I hate mint. I also hate brushing my teeth, but that's another story. When you start brushing with it and it foams up, it goes a grey colour; it doesn't foam up as much as other toothpastes I've tried, but I can still feel it foaming in my mouth.

One thing about this toothpaste is, because of the colour, I notice splashes and drops of it all over the sink which I don't with other toothpastes - this is good because it means I can wipe them off, but also bad because if there's any I don't notice, my mum definitely does.

So does it whiten? Honestly, not that much. It definitely makes my teeth look a bit better and healthier, but I can't say I've noticed an amazing colour difference since I started using it - it also doesn't seem to be a lasting difference, it just brightens things up a bit for the day and then by the evening they're back to normal.

Is it worth the money? It depends - it might work wonders for you, although it hasn't for me. I like it, though, because the novelty of using a black toothpaste makes me actually want to brush my teeth.

  1. Ohh this was on offer in my local Holland & Barrett and I was VERY tempted to give it a go. Seeing as it hasn't had much of a lasting impression on you, maybe it was best that I gave it a miss, but the thought of it is still really intriguing.
