Primer is, of course, essential (click here to read my thoughts on various priming lotions and potions) and depending on my skin I choose one of two: the Nivea Post Shave Balm or the W7 Prime Magic. I use the Nivea offering when my skin is quite dry, and the W7 when it's a little more on the oily side. Honestly, my skin varies from day to day but no matter what, these are two of the best primers in my collection.
My next step is concealer, and I've been a big fan of the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer because it's easy to work with, and it's just a good no-nonsense concealer. For my first foundation, I'm loving MAC Face and Body, which I apply with a buffing brush. Although it offers barely any coverage, it also feels like it's not there - which is exactly what I'm after. It's so comfortable to wear, and looks the same at the end of the day as it does at the beginning.
On top of this, I would usually use a loose powder - but because I need coverage, I've been using the Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Base Mineral Foundation. I couldn't use this alone, as it would be cakey on my dry skin, but it seems to work amazingly on top of the MAC foundation. It gives my face a more matte look to it, as well as providing the coverage I need. The two together jsut complement each other so perfectly, and I'm thrilled to have found a lightweight and long-lasting make up combination that I can wear on the daily.
What do you reach for when you want comfortable make up that will last all day?
