Top 10 must-see acts @ Download 2018

I have come to the conclusion that there won't be a miracle which gets me to Download Festival this year, which is sad because the line up this year is probably my favourite ever - so if you're going, have a beer for me and check out some of my top 10 must-see acts!

Mayday Parade, Saturday @ the Avalanche Stage // oh I love Mayday Parade so much; they completely embody by teenage emo years, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I saw them at Leeds Festival in 2014 and they were bloody brilliant - proper beautiful music that sends a tingle down your spine. They have new stuff out, too, so I think it'll be a great set.

Shinedown, Sunday @ main stage // it's amazing to see Shinedown on the line up, and I'm gutted to be missing out on seeing them again. Brent Smith's voice is absolutely incredible and I really hope they get the love they deserve. 'Second Chance' was truly the soundtrack of my summer when I was about 12, and remains one of my favourite songs to this day.

Neck Deep, Saturday @ the Avalanche Stage // pop punk dream boys - they're a band with so much energy on stage and they really know how to get a crowd going. Dani's talent on the drums is just unreal, too, so they're a lot of run to watch and I'd definitely recommend!

Rise Against, Sunday @ the Zippo Encore stage // oh man I am sad to be missing out on seeing these; I've never seen them before but I can just imagine how boss they are live. Appeal To Reason is one of my favourite albums of all time and they're just definitely a must-see for me.

Avenged Sevenfold, Friday @ main stage // out of the three headliners, these are the ones I'd be most looking forward to. Again, I've never seen them live (sadly) but I spent my teenage years listening to them with my brother and I reckon they'll be amazing.

The Maine, Saturday @ the Avalanche Stage // can we talk about how good Saturday is for this stage?! Amazing. I saw The Maine years and years ago, and they were boss, and for me it would be so nostalgic to see them again - but really, they're just a great band and you should watch them if you can!

The Pink Slips, Saturday @ main stage // one of the few female-fronted bands on the line up this year, these are definitely worth a watch. They're the first band on the main stage this day and they will be bringing synth-punk madness to the weekend so go and show them some love if you're around.

Cancer Bats, Friday @ the Avalanche Stage // very loud very hardcore very fun - another band I'm yet to actually see live but would kill to do so. Can you imagine the pits for this set?! Terrifying but equally very exciting.

You Me At Six, Friday @ the Zippo Encore stage // I wasn't going to put these on the list but then I thought, if I was there and they didn't clash with anyone I really wanted to see, I would definitely go and watch YMAS. They're definitely not actually as good as I thought they were when I was 14 but for the nostalgia, there's no chance I'd miss them.

Black Stone Cherry, Saturday @ main stage // my dad loves Black Stone Cherry and we often listen to them in the car, so it'd be lush to see them live and Blame It On The Boom Boom is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser if there ever was one.

So there's my top 10 must see acts at Download Festival - you can also catch my actual dad playing with his band on the Thursday afternoon in the Farmhouse Pub in the RIP area, if you're able to get in. He's very excited and we are, of course, all very proud. Seriously though he is probably cooler than me.
