il forno Liverpool // review

I bloody love a date night, and when we got invited to il forno to taste some of their food we decided let's make this a date night, why the hell not. So we glammed up a bit (I was wearing a blue velvet dress from Missguided and my beloved Vivienne Westwood necklace) and headed over to Liverpool to see what delicious Italian food we could shovel into our mouths/bellies.

We both started off with focaccia - salt and rosemary, which was delicious. I mean, maybe it was a mistake to eat basically an entire loaf each before ordering a main course but who cares? Carbs galore and I couldn't have been happier about it. For my main I went for gnocchi, which I love but hardly ever eat, in a tomato sauce sprinkled with parmesan, obv. The food was heavy but mouth-watering and I literally ate every last mouthful, which is rare for me!

We let our food settle before deciding on a dessert - we both went for cheesecake, mine raspberry and Sam's toffee. They were completely different in taste (duh) and texture but equally divine, and our tummies were VERY happy. We also got treated to fancy cocktails - Sam's was well fancier than mine because she's prettier than me - which were also a delight to the tastebuds. Everything was utterly gorgeous and it was one of the best date nights we've ever had, in my opinion.

il forno isn't too expensive; it's more than Nando's but it's not quite Jamie's Italian so for a birthday, anniversary or *insert other special occasion here* I'd wholeheartedly recommend it. Plus, you know an Italian restaurant is good when actual real life Italian families are popping in for tea!
