Made by bees // Part one

Come on, you didn't think I was never gonna write a post dedicated to skincare made by bees did you? Merging my two passions makes for the perfect blog post, and there really is some amazing skincare that the bees have helped to make. I've had to split this post into two, so the second half should be up later this month!

beebio active manuka honey and royal jelly facial creme

BeeBio have some amazing skincare products in their range; I won't talk about them all in this post because we'd be here all day, but the two stand-outs for me are the Active Manuka Honey and Royal Jelly Facial Creme and the Nectar Eye Serum. The face cream is sooo thick I thought it would never sink in, but it did after a few minutes and left my face feeling so soft and moisturised, but looking quite matte at the same time. The eye serum is nice - I've not tried it much but it's not greasy or sticky or too thick, and it didn't sting my skin or irritate my eyes so I guess it's everything you want in an eye cream!

treacle moon the honeycomb secret body wash

I was in Waitrose (not my usual haunt, I promise) when I saw Treacle Moon on the shelf, who come highly recommended and have loads of lovely scents available. Obviously the Honeycomb Secret Shower Gel was right up my street, and I swear it smells like butterscotch. It lathers nicely and I felt clean as a whistle (what does that even mean?!) after using it.

sbc gels propolis gel

A company I hadn't heard of before starting research for this post is SBC - they do soooo much skincare, including a whole manuka honey/propolis range. I absolutely adore their Propolis Gel* - honestly, it's hands down the most soothing skincare product I've ever tried. It's a strange texture but feels incredible on the skin and is SO moisturising. Propolis wax is used to soothe and to heal, and this product definitely does that. Their packaging is a bit 80s-looking but I can 100% get past that because this product is a gem! Bugger to photograph, though…

crabtree & evelyn citron honey & coriander 60 second fix kit for hands

I've always been a fan of Crabtree & Evelyn - their hand creams are my favourite, and I couldn't bee (geddit) more excited to finally have a giant-sized one! It may be a long to shot to include their Citron, Honey & Coriander 60 second fix kit in this post but it does have honey in the name! The hand cream smells divine, and you also get the Hand Recovery which you leave on for a minute then wash off - it cleanses, exfoliates and moisturises. It also smells gorgeous, obv.

honey bee beautiful natural ultimate facial oil

Honey Bee Beautiful are a Welsh brand, run by a lovely lady called Cath - she sent over their Natural Ultimate Facial Oil* for me to try. It's a lot more greasy than other facial oils I've tried, but somehow this isn't a bad thing - it certainly didn't break me out, and my skin feels really nourished after I've used it. I've been using it in place of a serum, before my moisturiser, and that seems to work out really well.

burts bees skincare

A post about skincare made by bees wouldn't be complete without Burts Bees would it? When I was away in Prague I used their Orange Essence Facial Cleanser, which smells heavenly. It's not the best cleanser I've ever tried, but it did a decent-ish job of getting my make up off so I was more than happy with it! For Christmas I got the Treat from the Bees gift set, and I've tried a few of the goodies: the lip balms are standard, but the hand salve is amazing for blisters. I also get really chapped knuckles, because of my eczema, and it's amazing on them! The cuticle cream is fabulous too, if you're into that sort of thing - and it smells lush.

Look out for part two of this post which includes (more) lip balm, candles and make-up!
