Sample Stash #4

I seem to be getting through my samples, slowly but surely, although whenever I make a dent I seem to get an influx of little sachets from my gran, my mum, magazines and PR companies. But I love trying new things and seeing what hidden gems are about, so I'm not complaining!

skincare samples

Lanolips 101 Ointment // Labelled as "Nature's Wonder Moisturiser", this is a really lovely lip balm. Thicker than your average petroleum jelly, you need to warm it between your fingertips and then smother it on your lips. It doesn't feel greasy or even thick on the lips, though, and it's so hydrating. It's 100% natural and it's cruelty free, plus you can use it on chapped skin, cuticles and even your nipples. This one is the original, and it's literally just made up of lanolin - but there's a whole range of fruity ones too. 8/10

urban decay revolution lip gloss scandal

Urban Decay Revolution High Colour Lipgloss in Scandal // I was given this at the UD counter in Liverpool, and I was really excited to try it - but I was soooo let down. The colour pay off is rubbish, and it's so streaky plus it seemed to only last about 15 minutes. I was gutted, and definitely wouldn't buy it or any of the other colours! 2/10

The Body Shop Oils of Life 'Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil' // The smell of this is to die for, and I smothered it all over my face - it didn't burn or sting, and did nourish my super-dry skin. It retails for £28 and you get 30ml, which seems expensive but I think it would last a while. You can mix it with your moisturiser, or apply it beforehand and I'd definitely be interested in trying it with my moisturiser. I couldn't really do that with this little sachet as it was reaaaalllly messy... 6/10

clinique blemish solutions clearing treatment

Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions 'all over clearing treatment' (step 3) // I got a sample kit which comes with the Cleansing Foam (nice), Clarifying Lotion (absolutely horrible, and way too harsh for my skin) and this. I loved this, it was definitely the best of the three and didn't try my skin out, plus it did a decent job of reducing my blemishes. It smells and feels lovely, too. 7/10

Have you found any holy grail products in the form of little samples?

  1. Disappointed to hear about the lip gloss; I usually love Urban Decay. The Clinique treatment sounds awesome though, might have to try it to see if it works any better than my Effaclar Duo+!

  2. I love the idea of this post! I never know what to do with my sample sachets, I always end up talking about them in my empties. Talking of empties, LOVED yours and Sam's massive empties video!
