The British Tag, aka how many times can I disclose my hatred of tea in one blog post

I saw the lovely Elish do the British tag literally ages ago, and decided I wanted a piece of the action so now I'm doing it too. I can't say I'm a huge fan of being British, and also my accent is practically Scouse so it's one of the worst accents imaginable. But anyway, jolly hockey sticks.

How many cups of tea do you have a day? How many sugars?
A big fat zero ... I am such a bad Brit, I reaaaaalllly don't like tea. Not even green tea, which I tried once and promptly felt like I was going to vomit. SOZ.

Favourite part of the roast?
Undoubtedly, it has to be Yorkshire puddings. And sweetcorn, which is my all time favourite veggie. Although, (and again I'm being a bad Brit) I'm not a big fan of roast dinners.

Favourite dunking biscuit?
Given that I don't drink tea, I don't tend to dunk my biscuits anywhere. But I do love a good biscuit; shortbread, of course, and a good old chocolate Hobnob. YES.

Favourite quintessentially British past-time?
Ummm I don't know which past-times come under specifically being British, although I did Google it and henceforth find out that tea-drinking, cheese-rolling and cricket are all positively British. I don't enjoy any of those, so I'm just going to say sleeping. Who doesn't love a good nap?

Favourite British word?

Well it has to be BLIMEY, obviously. Or maybe 'ghastly'...

Cockney rhyming slang?
'Apples and pears' meaning stairs - because my earliest memories involve my parents telling me to run up the apples and pears to bed!

Favourite British sweet?

Drumstick lollipops. Mmmmm.

What would your pub be called?
I've been thinking long & hard about this but I just can't think of anything witty and original. Help!?

No. 1 British person?
William Shakespeare, obviously.

Favourite shop/restaurant?
Primark, being the cheapskate student that I am. And for restaurants, there's a gorgeous chain called the Botanist which is just better than anything ever.

What's the first British song that pops into your head?
Imagine by John Lennon was literally the first one to come to mind, even though I don't really like it all that much...

Marmite- love or hate?
Honestly I've never tried it, but the smell is enough to put me off!

Soooo as you can tell I'm not the most wonderfully patriotic British person, but I did have fun answering these questions. If you've done it, feel free to pop a link in the comments - and if not, go for it!

  1. I feel you girl! I hate tea too and everyone scolds me for it. I'm glad to find a fellow tea hater. We can be bad Brits together! Xx

  2. I feel like these comments are going to turn into the Tea Haters club, but I hate tea too! I almost never find anyone else who hates it, so I'm always glad when I do hahaha. I've also never tried marmite because the look and smell puts me off straight away!

  3. You sound like you LOVE Britain ;) xx

  4. Thank goodness I'm not the only British person who hates tea!

  5. This is brilliant, I'm definitely going to have to do this! Absolutely love The Botanist too (never realised it was a chain!)
