Have your cake and eat it?!

When the lovely Bakerdays contacted me to see if I'd like to review one of their letterbox cakes*, I jumped at the chance. I'm a massive cake lover, and quite a good cake maker if I do say so myself, and the idea of a cake that comes through your letterbox was fascinating to me - getting food of any sort delivered to me is just a dream come true, really.

I browsed through their designs but as I'm the most indecisive person ever, I really couldn't choose one and decided to send them a photograph of me and the beautiful Sam to go on the cake instead. When it arrived it was even cuter than I could have imagined! Packaged in a white cardboard box, I found candles and balloons inside - such a nice touch if it's somebody's birthday - and the cake itself was in a gorgeous little tin.

Wrapped in plastic inside the tin, for freshness, was the cutest little cake I've ever seen - lilac is my favourite colour, if you didn't know from the name of my blog, so the lilac background and gorgeous little flowers were just the nicest addition EVER. So thoughtful considering I had just sent them a photo and left the rest up to them!

The cake itself tasted absolutely delicious - soft sponge with just the right amount of sweetness, and the icing wasn't too sickly either. I'm normally not a lover of icing but this was actually really nice. I could have easily eaten the whole cake to myself in one sitting, but out of politeness I shared it with my parents who also enjoyed it.

I personally think this is one of the best ideas ever; if you can't physically be with someone you love on their birthday (or any other occasion) just send them a cake that will fit through their letter box! There are so many designs to choose from, or you can have your own photo and whatever message you like printed on it all from £14.99. Head to Bakerdays to order your's now!

Thank you to the lovely people over at Bakerdays for sending me such a beautiful cake, I will definitely be using their services in the future!
